I found it very interesting that the origin of net.art was completely by accident but actually ended up inspiring a wave of a new form of artists using a variety of web tools to create their works. I also found it fascinating how much of the early internet art originated from eastern Europe and Russia as I had never heard this before. I also didn’t know that there were so many early internet websites dedicated to showing off new forms of digital artwork. I really liked reading about Jodi.org as my family has always been very interested in coding and computer language. It’s cool that this website was available as a way to show people the intricacies of computers, the web, and how the internet works. This also may have been a way for many people to be introduced to the idea of hacking. Something I really like about the start of these internet digital art galleries is that anybody can publish their work much more easily. This allowed for a wave of artists that may not have been able to share their work before to present their art in front of a larger audience and to whoever might be interested. I also found it very interesting to read about the different corporations that fought for the attention of the new internet audience. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this article about early internet artwork as I hadn’t known much about it and I look forward to learning more.
