For this project, I ended up going with my second concept, the rolling balls. The process of using real physics for this ended up being very challenging as I had to bake the entire simulation and wait several minutes every time I needed to tweak anything. This made the process of making the final animation very time consuming but I was able to get it to work in the end. I really enjoyed doing the texturing for this project and ended up making a sort of clear plastic or frosted glass texture for the tubes and ramps. For the balls, I went with a marble texture and changed the colors of it for each ball. I only ended up using 2 balls for the final animation as it would have been even more time consuming to have to bake the simulation with even more, but I ended up adding a small panel that bumps the second ball into the tube after it appears to miss. I am very proud of how this project turned out overall and I think that it did end up being a very satisfying loop although it is short. This project taught me a lot about how to improve rigid body simulations and leaves me wanting to create another similar project knowing what I know now.
