Overall, I’m mostly happy with the soundscape I was able to create. I really like how the beginning ended up and I think the feeling of being relaxed came across well. I enjoyed going through the feedback for my project and I think that most people were able to get the same feeling I was going for. My intention for the project was for the listener to start off feeling relaxed and become progressively more unsettled or uncomfortable. Something that I think really added to this effect was creating several patterns of sounds that repeated at different times throughout the soundscape but with slight changes in order to make them less recognizable. I thought that the feedback I received from my peers was very interesting as some people felt that the entire soundscape was relaxing while others found the whole thing to be unnerving. I’m really happy that people were able to have both of these perceptions from my soundscape. One of my favorite parts of the piece ended up being the lighter noises throughout and how they became more frequent as the soundscape went on. I learned a lot from this project and if I were to do it again, I would try to have the quieter parts have more slight background noises to keep the piece from being boring as some of the feedback suggested. Although I didn’t have any experience with Audition going into this project, I still felt like I was able to get a good grasp on the program and I am definitely proud of the soundscape I created in the end.
